Exhibition Title: Art with an Impact

Description of Exhibition: A juried exhibit of artwork presented by United Way’s Young Leaders Society. Artwork will explore issue areas and solutions related to poverty in West Michigan. All forms of artwork will be considered. Open to all artists. There is no fee to apply.

To Apply:
1. Complete the Entry Form.
2. Email your Entry Form and digital images to yls@hwmuw.org.

**Use the following format in the subject line: “Art with an Impact, First and last name”

Submit up to 3 works of art. Include one digital image representative of each work.
Name each digital image with your first initial, last name and image number
(example: JSmith1.jpg, JSmith2.jpg, JSmith3.jpg).

Deadline:
Entry Deadline is December 17, 2018.
Selected and non-selected artists will be notified by January 1, 2019.
Exhibition Dates: Feb 1 – Feb 26, 2019

The exhibit will be hosted by Light Gallery + Studio, located at 317 Division Ave S, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. Accepted artists will be provided additional details regarding delivery of artwork and installation upon acceptance.

Young Leaders Society is the next generation of professionals ages 21-35, who are interested in learning, growing, and participating as philanthropists to invest in solutions that reduce poverty in our community. We come from all sorts of backgrounds to learn about the most pressing issues facing people in West Michigan, and we invite you to join us to change the story. Artwork submitted to this show should explore subjects related to poverty: Housing, Food Security, Mental/Behavioral Health, Violence Prevention, Youth Education – middle school STEM, and Financial Security – job transportation, training, and credentialing). The issue areas surrounding poverty are often misunderstood topics in our society today, and they are issues that affect all of us. The Young Leaders Society will partner with artists to bring discussions of poverty to the forefront. The exhibition will be juried and will feature a variety of media.

Rules and Eligibility

• All decisions of the curator/jurors are final.
• By submitting your artwork to this show you give us the right to publish images of your work if you are accepted.
• Because we are not charging for entry into the show, please consider donating to Heart of West Michigan United Way.
• All artwork must be on display and cannot be removed from the exhibition for the entirety of the show, even if the work is sold.
• All work must be original.
• If digital images are not correctly representative of work chosen, we have the right to disqualify the entry from the exhibition.
• All selected works must be delivered and ready for hanging no later than January 23, 2019 (additional details to follow). If shipping the artwork, the artist is responsible for delivery and return shipping.
• Artwork must be listed for sale. The gallery consignment is 40% of sales.
• Artists are encouraged to submit art of any media, including video, performance, and other experimental media. Gallery space is limited and Artists are encouraged to submit unique ways to utilize the space. Artwork must be able to fit through the standard size front door and must fit within the perimeters of the gallery space. The main gallery space is 6’ x 98”. The wall height is 108”. The front window space is 9’ x 66” and can accommodate 2D or 3D work. Unique installations will be considered, such as hanging artwork from the ceiling.
