Random Sample is a multi-disciplinary art space aimed at giving Nashville’s community an approachable meeting ground for people with diverse backgrounds, practices, and skill levels.

Our 2025/2026 artist-in-residence program runs for one year, October 2025 — October 2026 followed by a 3-month long installation of the body of work created while in residence, October 2026 — December 2026.

Applications will be open until September 30th, 2025. The application fee is $25. This application is open to artist nationwide and internationally, however we cannot provide housing accommodation.

Random Sample’s residence program operates as a work exchange. There is no rental fee for studio space.

The artist-in-residence has 24 hour building access but no housing accommodations.

All we ask is for our residence to be willing to help us maintain our space (chores, volunteering) and participate in community events.

Random Sample hosts a handful of weekly programming and we want to be sure the artist involved with our space is not only aware of but welcoming of this!

We expect the artist to be respectful of the space, fellow artists and musicians, and our principals.
