Each year the Black Mountain Center for the Arts presents “Art in Bloom”, a series of events celebrating the artistry and beauty of flowers. Now in its 20th year, Art in Bloom is an extremely popular and highly anticipated event in Black Mountain and the greater Asheville area, making it BMCA’s most important fundraiser. At the core of AIB is an exhibit of locally created artwork which serves as the inspiration for twenty floral designers, who will create incredible arrangements based on those works.

BMCA is currently accepting submissions for inclusion in the Art in Bloom Gallery Exhibit. We seek artists with varied backgrounds, who represent the wealth of talent and diversity in our region. Interested artists may submit original artwork for consideration. We will accept 2D work in all mediums including paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, fiber, and mixed media, as well as 3D work in ceramics, fibers, metal, wood and/or other sculptural materials. Please note that the pieces selected for this show will be inspiration for the floral designs created, but the artworks themselves are not intended to be floral in nature. The exhibit will be on display in the Gallery at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts from May 29 - June 21. Selected artists will drop off their piece at BMCA on Tuesday, May 26th
All artwork selected for the Art in Bloom exhibit must be for sale. If a work sells BMCA will retain 40% of the sale price and will pay artists 60%. Payments will be issued within two weeks of the closing of the show.
There will be an Opening Reception on Thursday, June 18th. This will be the first opportunity for the public to view the artwork along with the freshly created floral arrangements. Selected artists are highly encouraged to attend to publicize/promote this event on their social media.
