Thank you for your interest in joining the 2727 artist co-op! We are seeking new members to join our cohort In October 2026. We accept serious emerging visual artists from the SF Bay Area representing diverse themes, styles, mediums, and life experiences. Artists of all experience levels are encouraged to apply.

Deadline: Aug 10

Applications will initially be reviewed online by a Membership Selection Committee. Selected applicants will then be invited to a brief virtual interview conducted by members of the Selection Committee. General members of the co-op may also choose to be present at interviews.

Interested applicants should submit the following documents:

5-10 images, videos, or audio samples
Any skills, experience, or offerings that may benefit the operation of the gallery
A brief artist statement describing your artistic practices
A letter of interest in the 2727 Artist Co-op. Please describe your interest in our community as well as what you hope to gain from membership and how you would be able to support the co-op.

Multiple submissions: do not submit additional applications less than 6 months apart, and only submit another application if extensive changes have been made to your practice. Extraneous applications will not be reviewed.

About the 2727 Artist Co-op
We are a cooperative, artist-run art gallery located in South Berkeley at 2727 California Street. Our mission is to provide opportunities for emerging visual artists in the Bay Area to show their work and develop their practice. The co-op supports a vibrant community of artists of diverse styles, mediums, life experiences, and perspectives.

2727 hosts month-long co-op exhibitions every 3 months in which co-op members and members of the public are invited to host performance, assembly, and community programming events.

Members are encouraged to host workshops and events, use communal creative facilities, and take advantage of the 2727 network. We are also committed to providing access to mentorship and professional development in art.

About 2727 California Street
The 2727 Artist Co-op is part of a non-profit public charity (Hellerstein Foundation, a [501(c)3]) that oversees 2727 California Street. Founded in 2017, our community includes performers, poets, musicians, film-makers and writers and visual artists.

The building contains art studios, outdoor work and gathering space, and a beautiful theater space with a sprung-dance floor, a balcony and high-quality projector, lighting, and sound systems. 2727 features 2-story high display walls, movable walls, overhead controllable lighting grid and striking natural light.
