Description

The Tubac Presidio State Historic Park & Museum invites artists to submit work inspired by our region’s magnificent night sky. Ideas may include but are not limited to: early celestial navigation, nocturnal wildlife and bird migration, and humankind’s quest to challenge the boundaries of our earthbound existence. A selection of artwork will be chosen for advanced showing during International Dark Sky Week, April 19 – 25, 2020, and will be accompanied by several dark sky presentations. The full art exhibition will be held at the Presidio Museum from May 16th through Labor Day. Artwork submitted should depict or be inspired by: the night sky’s relationship to navigation, migration, or exploration. Work must be original. This exhibition is open to all Arizona artists 18 years of age or older.
Two-dimensional work no larger than 24” x 24”: paintings and works on paper, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed-media, drawing, etching, printmaking, and collage. Photography: color or black and white; digital or film. Three-dimensional sculpture no larger than 12” x 12” x 12.” Images & Format: Images should include the title of the piece in the file name. Please list the title, dimensions, medium, and price of your pieces. Each artist must submit several images of artwork by email to: info@tubacpresidio.org.

Fees & Sales: This event is a fundraiser for the Presidio. There are no entry fees. In the event artwork is sold, the Presidio will retain 40% of the purchase price and the artists will retain 60%. Payments for work sold will be mailed to the artist upon the close of the exhibition.
Artist Biography & Statement: Artists are encouraged to provide a one-page biography and artist statement to accompany submitted artwork.
