Since the Renaissance period theconcept of frame itself has been a reference to the idea of a windowthat opens to external worlds, to others, and to what is beyondreality. With the invention of the photographic medium, andcinematography later, the first virtual reality constructions come tobe. These are capable of involving the recipient / spectator in amore participatory way thanks to an aesthetic and narrativearrangement that favors a direct, and at the same time illusory,experience of a specular real world. Augmentedreality today represents a further development of this immersion:a reality where the participant (no longer just a spectator) interactswith avatars and virtual constructions.
