The Migratory Yellow Pages / La Sección Amarilla de la Migración will include an extensive collection of graphic and literary contributions from both sides of the border dedicated to migrants and the ecosystem of the Chihuahua desert. All copies of the published book will be distributed free of cost at sites chosen by collaborative regional partners across the Americas and will also be available online. We hope you will join the conversation and the exchange of thinking with / and for each other by joining us as fellow travelers.

We are inviting creative communities into collaborations, written/visual contributions, and participation in a new, free, two-hundred-page bilingual Spanish/English publication that can serve migrants as a companion on their journey in the form of a Yellow Pages guidebook containing entertaining yet practical information that illuminates both natural and human migration along the US/MX border.

All selected contributors will receive a copy of the published book and a USD$100 honorarium. Every individual or group’s contribution will be archived and made publicly available for free on our website, currently under construction: <www.migratory.network>.

This call for entries is being distributed to artists, organizations, writers, theorists, activists, scientists, migrants, and others both within the El Paso/Ciudad Juárez region and beyond.

Featuring Mexico City-based artist Minerva Cuevas, created in collaboration with the University of Texas-El Paso Rubin Center, this multi-sited transnational project is conceived with the broad understanding that migration is a natural process that includes non-human species. An exhibition at the Rubin Center, together with a free companion publication and cultural interventions in Ciudad Juárez, will relate to actions of dissidence in the ecology of migration that respond to regional, social, and environmental crises.

This publication is made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Warhol Foundation, the University of New Mexico Center for Environmental Arts & Humanities, and the University of Texas-El Paso.

Las Páginas Amarillas de la Migración / La Sección Amarilla de la Migración también incluirá una extensa colección de contribuciones gráficas y literarias de ambos lados de la frontera dedicadas a los migrantes y al ecosistema del desierto de Chihuahua. Todos los ejemplares del libro se distribuirán gratuitamente en los lugares elegidos por los socios regionales de colaboración en todo el continente americano y también estarán disponibles en línea. Esperamos que se unan a la conversación y al intercambio de ideas con / y para los demás, uniéndose a nosotros como compañeros de viaje.

Invitamos a las comunidades creativas a colaborar, a hacer contribuciones escritas/visuales y a participar en una nueva publicación gratuita de doscientas páginas bilingüe español/inglés que pueda servir a los migrantes como compañero de viaje similar a una Sección Amarilla que contenga información entretenida y a la vez práctica y que ilumine tanto la migración natural como la humana a lo largo de la frontera entre Estados Unidos y México.

Todos los colaboradores recibirán un ejemplar del libro publicado y honorarios (USD$100). Las contribuciones de cada individuo o grupo serán públicos en nuestro sitio web, actualmente en construcción: <www.migratory.network>.

Estamos distribuyendo la convocatoria a artistas, organizaciones, escritores, teóricos, activistas, científicos, migrantes y otros, tanto en la región de El Paso/Ciudad Juárez como fuera de ella.

Con la participación de la artista radicada en la Ciudad de México, Minerva Cuevas y creada en colaboración con el Centro Rubin de la Universidad de Texas-El Paso, este proyecto transnacional con múltiples sedes está concebido con el amplio entendimiento de que la migración es un proceso natural que incluye a las especies no humanas. Una exposición en el Centro Rubin, junto con la publicación e intervenciones culturales en Ciudad Juárez, se relacionarán con acciones de disidencia entorno a la ecología de la migración que responden a crisis regionales, sociales y medioambientales.
