IBG: Open Call for Glass Artists
The International Biennale of Glass in Bulgaria has launched an Open Call for Artists' Applications to participate in the exhibition of IBG 2023, which will take place at the National Gallery Kvadrat 500, Sofia, Bulgaria, between 6 October and 5 November, 2023.
The International Biennale of Glass (IBG) is an unparalleled event in Bulgaria in its widely international outlook and exclusive focus on glass art and its recent achievements on the global art scene. IBG takes place every two years, between October and November, with continuous yearly activity in the Bulgarian and international cultural calendars. Guests of the event are international artists and lecturers who introduce the audience to the opportunities and accomplishments in this field of fine arts. IBG consists of exhibitions with selected works, educational lectures and various workshops, which reach great success and provide interactive ways of public engagement. By also providing university scholarships, IBG aims to stimulate students and young artists in Bulgaria to pursue the path of artistic glass and show them the creative potential of working with the material. IBG strives to popularize glass art both in Bulgaria and on the international scene, even more so recently through its official virtual platform IBG Connect, dedicated to creating a global glass art community.
With each edition, IBG gets wider recognition and a growing number of applicants. The official selection of participating artworks is made by an international jury committee that evaluates the candidates’ submissions. Since 2019, the official host and co-organizer of the event is the National Gallery in Bulgaria.
The application process is open to any artist, with no limit on age and place of residence, and it is free of charge.
