IMPART Artist Grant Award 2023 Open Call
1319 18th Street Northwest Washington 20036 United States |
QAIC is pleased to announce its third annual IMPART Artist Grant Award Open Call. “Connecting Creatives” and artist empowerment are central tenets of QAIC’s philosophy. Three promising artists will receive the 2023 IMPART Artist Grant, which provides a $5,000 grant to support the artists’ ability to create a new body of work and an opportunity to exhibit and speak about their work at QAIC.
This year’s grant invites emerging and mid-career visual artists to explore our 2023 theme of Technology & the Arts. As a cultural institute, our mission is to cultivate artistic expression, invite dialogue and serve as a vital hub for diverse cultural, artistic and creative communities.
Our year-long exploration is an invitation to foster innovation and dialogue about the growing relationship between technology & the arts. Technology has not only redefined how people communicate with one another, but how art is created and shared. Visual artists of all mediums whose work addresses this intersection and engages technology, old or new, are encouraged to apply.
Artists are invited to submit their application containing the following via Submittable.com:
Artist’s name, email address and relevant website information
Artist’s résumé or CV
A detailed proposal of the project they intend to pursue with the grant
Visual references to their work
Applications are reviewed by QAIC staff for completion of the requirements. Applications missing any of the listed requirements will be rejected without further review. All completed applications will be reviewed by an independent jury of subject matter experts who will select the three (3) winning recipients.
Applicants must submit an original proposal and create work that is wholly your own. The proposal should include the artist’s résumé or CV, and reference images. Incomplete proposals will not be passed on to the review committee. Artwork may not contain or be comprised of hazardous materials. Artists will be responsible for transporting the artwork to and from QAIC’s Washington, D.C. headquarters for the exhibition.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, via Submittable.com, through Sunday, April 16, 2023. In addition to the grant, selected artists will be asked to speak and exhibit their artwork at QAIC’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. in 2023. Winners will be notified and announced on May 12, 2023.
