Reflections of Us

Visionary Art Collective is a contemporary art & artist development company based in New York City. Our mission is to uplift artists through magazine features, exhibitions, podcast interviews, and our mentorship programs.

Visionary Art Collective is partnering with Warnes Contemporary in New York City to present our first in-person juried group exhibition, Reflections of Us, curated by Sergio Gomez. This exhibition is centered on self-portraiture and will feature a diverse selection of self-portraits by artists of all career levels. Through this exhibition we seek to broaden the classical definition of self-portraiture by including a wide range of interpretations, from representational to abstract.

Eligibility: This opportunity is open to artists based in the United States. We accept work from artists of all career levels.
We accept all 2D & 3D mediums, including painting, drawing, photography, digital, prints, fiber art, collage, mixed media, sculpture, ceramics, and installation art. We do not accept film or video.
Size Requirements: The maximum dimensions for each artwork is 18 inches in width x 36 inches in height.
Selected work from this exhibition will be included in our print magazine, New Visionary, which is available quarterly.

This exhibition will be curated by Sergio Gomez, an artist, curator and director of 33 Contemporary Gallery in Chicago. Sergio has organized over 100 exhibitions since 2010. One of his most remarkable curatorial achievements with 33 Contemporary Gallery was the decade-long stewardship of the National Self Portrait Annual Exhibition in Chicago. From 2004 to 2014, Sergio passionately cultivated this exhibition, turning it into one of the largest and most anticipated self-portrait showcases in the nation. Over the ten-year span, more than 500 artists eagerly participated, testifying to the exhibition's enduring legacy in the art world. Sergio's curatorial talent transformed the National Self Portrait Annual Exhibition into a revered platform, where artists celebrated self-expression and self-reflection.

Visionary Art Collective’s mission is to connect contemporary art with education. The submission fees we receive go towards funding our platform and enable us to continue providing opportunities and free educational resources for artists and educators around the world.
