Spanning two centuries, the magic of night photography has captured the collective imagination of the masses. From the infamously long exposures required by early artists to high-speed color film and the advent of digital technology, the light at night has inspired an explosion of interest among contemporary artists. Natural vistas, celestial bodies, urban landscapes,¬¬¬ artificial structures, and nocturnal interludes represent but a few of the limitless subjects of nighttime photography.
Praxis Gallery seeks the submission of photographic works that explore the fundamental qualities that make night photography¬ – from dusk to dawn – a compelling contemporary art form. All genres, capture types, black & white and color, traditional and non-traditional photographic and digital post-production processes are welcome for submission.

ACCEPTANCE | AWARDS Up to 38 images will be selected by the juror for exhibition at Praxis Gallery. A Directors’ Choice and five Honorable Mentions will be awarded and featured in the exhibition, the printed show catalog, and the online exhibit gallery. Directors’ Choice receives free entry into 3 juried calls of their choice, and a complimentary exhibit book.

ENTRY FEE. $40.00 for submitting up to five images, $5.00 for each additional image (up to ten total images per open call). Payment is accepted by credit/debit card through our secure online submission site. The entry fee for submissions is non-refundable.

COPYRIGHT & USAGE RIGHTS Artist retains all copyrights to their own images. Artists whose photographs are accepted for exhibition grant Praxis Gallery the nonexclusive right to use, print, and reproduce submitted digital files for the purpose of the exhibition, promoting the artist, promoting related programs and subsequent display on Praxis Gallery's website, social media, and online exhibition archives. The artist's name will be included wherever the photographs are displayed.
