Edge on the Square Project Overview
Edge on the Square invites experienced mural artists to design a vibrant and engaging set of
images to be painted in response to and conjunction with the preexisting Edge mural. Edge on
the Square’s Mural Project is a unique opportunity for collaborative artistic expression, by and
for the community. Artists of all backgrounds with a connection to San Francisco Chinatown are
encouraged to apply.
Project Description
Edge on the Square is a place-based cultural hub that celebrates, explores, and supports
leading and pioneering creative expressions at the intersection of community, art, and
multi-racial democracy. Edge on the Square is seeking qualified artists to design and install a
temporary mural for the 2024 exhibition. Artists and artists teams are requested to apply by
submitting a general design proposal that reflects the spirit of our organization and with the
purpose of shifting narratives about the Chinatown community and its contributions. Edge
on the Square’s Programs Committee must approve the proposed design prior to moving
forward with the mural.
