CALL FOR ARTISTS: MURAL INSTALLATION AT EDWARD “PEEL” COLEMAN CENTER

OVERVIEW:
ArtsinStark, Visit Canton and Canton Parks and Recreation announce a call for artists to submit proposals for a new mural installation at the Edward “Peel” Coleman Center. The organizations are seeking a talented and visionary artist to create a unique piece that will enhance the entry and lobby area of the center. This mural will be a focal point for visitors, providing an inspiring and memorable experience.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
Eligibility:
Open to professional artists with experience in public art installations.
Artists must be able to complete the project by September 15, 2024.
The project is open to professional artists or artist teams that live or work in the following areas: (1) in Southeast Canton, Ohio; (2) in Canton, Ohio; (3) in State of Ohio; or (4) in the United States.

Project Description:
The mural should reflect the cultural richness, history, or cultural significance of the Edward “Peel” Coleman Center and the Southeast Canton community.
The wall is a cinder block wall measuring 33ft W x 9ft H.
The piece must be durable, safe, and suitable for indoor display.

Budget: $2900 inclusive of all artist fees, materials, installation, and related expenses.

Artist Statement:
A brief statement (up to 500 words) describing your artistic vision and approach, particularly in relation to public art.

Examples of Previous Work:
Provide images and descriptions of three previous works. Each example should include:

Title of the work
Location of installation
Year of completion
Materials used
Dimensions
Brief description (up to 200 words) of the concept and execution

Proposal for Edward “Peel” Coleman Center mural:
Conceptual drawings or sketches of the proposed sculpture
Description of materials and dimensions
Proposed timeline for completion
Budget breakdown

Resume/CV:
Include relevant artistic experience, exhibitions, and any public art projects completed.

Submission Deadline:
All submissions must be received by July 31, 2024.
