Description

Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center invites emerging and established artists to submit original artworks to ‘Timber: Contemporary Woodcraft.’ This exhibition seeks to celebrate the diverse and innovative ways that contemporary artists harness the versatility of wood as a medium for artistic expression. From utilizing traditional woodworking techniques (carving, turning, whittling, inlay, joinery, steam-bending, etc.) for furniture making and sculpture, to two dimensional working methods like wood burning, to avant-garde installations fabricated with CNC machines and laser cutters, this exhibition aims to showcase all the creative ways artists engage with and manipulate wood to convey their narratives. We encourage artists to push the boundaries of both traditional and contemporary techniques to create captivating artworks.

The artwork for ‘Timber: Contemporary Woodcraft’ must feature wood as a primary medium. Mixed-media works are welcome, but wood must be a primary element. 2-D and 3-D artwork will be considered. Indoor and outdoor installations will be considered. All work must be done within the last four years. Artists must be 18 years or older. Artists must be living and working in the United States or Canada. Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center takes a 40% commission on all gallery sales. This exhibition will be open to the public in the Kay Daugherty Gallery of Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center, from October 11, 2024, to January 20, 2025.
