2727 Artist Co-op is an artist-run gallery in South Berkeley, featuring emerging artists in the Bay area. The mission of 2727 and the co-op is to nurture, materially support and help build community for artists. 2727 Artist Co-op was formed to support serious emerging artists with less opportunity to exhibit who represent a diversity of themes, styles, media and life experiences.

We have grown to support a vibrant community of artists organizing our own exhibitions, representation, and events while engaging our local and extended communities in art. We provide members space to exhibit and sell their work, inexpensive or free access to resources, mentorship and professional development in artistic and business dimensions. 2727 hosts openings, public events, talks and workshops.

The 2727 Artist Co-op is part of 2727 California Street which is a creative hub featuring artist studio facilities, arts exhibitions, performance and assembly space. Our high-walled gallery and theater room is equipped with a professional lighting grid, sprung dance floor, projector, and sound system. Our community includes performers, poets, film-makers and writers as well as visual artists. Many co-op artists also have studios at 2727 and We are a 501(c)3 (public charity).

Submit an Artist Membership Application and supporting materials:
5-6 Images and/or audio/video samples
Image specifications: Images must be .jpg files. Image size should be a minimum of 600 pixels wide or tall but not to exceed 1200 pixels wide or tall. Name your image files with Your Last Name,_First Name,_Image #.

Applications will initially be reviewed online by a Membership Selection Committee. Selected applicants will then be invited to a brief virtual interview conducted by members of the Selection Committee. General members of the co-op may also choose to be present at interviews.

Acceptance will be posted the second week of October
