Description

Vignette is delighted to announce its first group exhibition, Rebirthing The Unwanted. This exciting event will bring together NYC-based emerging visual and sound artists who explore the impact of mainstream value judgment on individuals, in today’s advanced stage of capitalism. Simply put, we're reaching out to artists with existing work that have examined how we evaluate objects, people, and places as "junk," "garbage," or "dirt." We'd love to invite you to reflect on popular moral evaluation of tastes as "trashy," and we're hoping this will result in a thought-provoking show and insightful experience for everyone involved.

Vignette is a creative project that I created in the context of my Master’s program in Arts Administration at Teachers College, Columbia University. The curation and show statements will be evaluated by Dr. Lena, as part of her class Trash Art that I am taking. I am thankful for her support, her trust, and the opportunity to explore the class theme through a group exhibition.

Selected artworks will be showcased in a group art exhibition in December 2024 in New York City (venue TBA next month).

Can't wait to see your creative interpretations!

Contribution Acknowledgement
I greatly appreciate your interest in participating. While I’m unable to offer financial support for exhibiting your work, I’m committed to providing valuable help in other ways.

There will be an opening reception to offer exposure and visibility to the exhibition, your work, and to give you an opportunity to engage with other artists, administrators, and art lovers. Networking is a wonderful way to practice presenting your work, yourself, and meeting potential lifelong collaborators. Photos of your work and information on the show will be shared on various platforms to give more visibility to the group exhibition and increase the chances for people who do not know you to discover you. As mentioned before, this is the first of many projects, starting from scratch. I’m also here to discuss other ways to be of help for you and your practice, or to simply chat about art with you!
