Artist Open Call… Are you curious to find out how you can step into 2025 feeling prepared and with greater clarity? Join us for an engaging and thought-provoking webinar on preparing for 2025 with guest panellists; award winning US artist, Isabel Couceiro, London artist Karo Simaskaite, along with VAA directors Laura O’Hare and Shirley-Ann O’Neill. As we close on 2024, this reflective session will be focused on gaining fresh inspiration to elevate your artistry, which is particularly useful if you are unsure of your creative direction.

Panellists

Laura O’Hare and Shirley-Ann O’Neill are founders of the VAA, with over 20 years experience of in the art sector, working with galleries, museums, art fairs, educational institutions, and curators. They are authors of best-selling art books ‘Good Art Does Not Sell Itself (2022)’ and ‘Securing Representation: Galleries, Agents & Artists (2024)’.

Isabel Couceiro de Costa Newman is a Portuguese-American artist, recipient of the Visual Art Open Prize in 2023. A figurative oil based painter based in Boston, currently studying for a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Boston University, Isabel has seen her practice and profile grow significantly in 2024, scaling her social media following to over 20K followers. Isabel hosts VAA artist meet-ups, including Venice VAA Art Café in Italy this summer.

Karo Simaskaite is a book artist with over 10 years of experience in art education, having worked extensively at the University of the Arts London. Throughout her career, she has held various roles within the arts sector, including events management. Karo has recently joined the VAA, where she is now coordinating the events program.
