Umpqua Valley Arts Association (UVA) is proud to present an open Call for Artists to submit their work to our 2025 Artworks Northwest Biennial exhibit. The Artworks Northwest Biennial is a juried invitational for artists who reside in the Pacific Northwest and is a multi-media showcase of contemporary practices happening in the region by artists at all stages of their artistic careers. It is open to all established, mid-career and emerging artists residing in Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Alaska, British Columbia, Western Montana, and Western Wyoming and accepts works in all media except video.

Artworks for this exhibition are chosen by a curator who resides/works in the Pacific Northwest whom UVA invites to lend their eye and their voice in the broader Pacific Northwest art scene to the exhibition.

Our long list of esteemed curators include: Grace Kook-Anderson, Steven Hayes, Marie Watt, Andries Fourie, Scott Malbaurn, and Arvie Smith.

The 2025 curator: Charlene Liu
Born in Taiwan and raised in the American Midwest, Liu is a Professor of Art and Printmaking at the University of Oregon in Eugene. Immediacy of place and landscape form the foundation of her creative practice and emerge through a visual lexicon that combines the concrete and familiar with the abstract and decorative. Applying a broad palette of materials and approach, her work explores visual expressions of multiplicity, movement, and transformation that inhabit our everyday lives, our cultural inheritances, and evolving identities. Her work has been exhibited at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at Portland State University, USC Pacific Asia Museum, the Schneider Museum of Art, and beyond.

• Submission Deadline: March 28th, 2025
• IMPORTANT NOTE: Entries close at 11:59PM Mountain Time, or 10:59PM Pacific Time.
• Artist Notified: April 29th, 2025
• Art Delivery to UVA: June 2nd, 10am-6pm
• Opening Reception: Friday, June 6th, 4pm-7pm
• Exhibit Ends: August 15th
• Artwork Pick Up: August 18th, 10am-6pm
• Artwork Shipped: No later than September 8th
