OPEN CALL — Ecological Grief

London United Kingdom

Description

Submission dates: June 30 – August 15
Selected artists announced: August30
Ecological grief is the deep sorrow and emotional pain experienced in response to the loss of ecosystems, species, landscapes, and the natural rhythms of the Earth.
It arises as we witness climate collapse, deforestation, extinction, water scarcity, the poisoning of soil, and the erasure of places once intimately known.

But ecological grief is more than mourning — it is also a recognition of interdependence. It reflects love, memory, and responsibility toward the more-than-human world.
For many, especially those from Indigenous, diasporic, or land-connected communities, ecological grief is not only personal — it is historical, collective, and political as well.

Through this open call, we invite artists to express, confront, and transform ecological grief through form, texture, silence, and voice.
We welcome works that explore the textures of loss, transformation, and resistance in the face of climate crisis.
Accepted categories:
? Poetry
? Textile or fiber-based art
? Painting / drawing / mixed media
? Photography

Selected works will be featured in an online exhibition curated by Leukos Art Gallery (based in Copenhagen ? London).
Participating artists will receive a digital exhibition certificate and a place in the official exhibition catalogue.

This open call is open to emerging and established artists aged 18 and above.
We welcome submissions from artists across the world, working in visual, poetic, textile, and photographic forms.
Following the exhibition, we are planning to host a webinar on ecological grief and artistic responses to climate crisis, bringing together artists, curators, and academics.
Details and registration information for the webinar will be announced at a later date.
