Black and white photography strips away distraction to reveal the essential. In this curated exhibition, we celebrate the power of photography to capture emotion, form, and story with striking clarity.

As Yellow Studio launches this retail exhibition in the Yellow Studio Co-Op and The Beehive at Yellow Studio, we're excited to showcase the diverse perspectives of photographers working in this timeless medium. From intimate portraits to sweeping landscapes, detailed abstracts to candid street scenes, "In Focus" brings together artists who embrace the sophisticated elegance and enduring appeal of black and white photography.

Yellow Studio invites women photographers in the community to submit their black-and-white work – imagery that demonstrates the enduring power of light, shadow, and composition to move and inspire.

Submission Period: July 7 - 20
Notification: July 25
Art Drop: August 26 *Artwork can be shipped - artists must provide return shipping, and artwork must be received by July 25
Exhibition: September 5 - November 30
Pickup of Unsold Work: December 2

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Submitting Artists must identify as women.

1-3 artwork images
Artist Statement tailored to your submitted artwork and Bio
Submissions without a statement or bio will not be considered
Submission Fee: Free for Members of Yellow Studio / $25 for Non-Members (non-refundable, paid through Artwork Archive)

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Image Requirements:
Submit 1-3 black and white photographs
All images must be digital files: JPEG format, 300 DPI minimum
File size: maximum 5 MB per image
Name files as follows: LastName_FirstName_ImageTitle.jpg
Images must be black and white (no color, no sepia toning)
Include information about the type of photography and substrate, and edition information. Please note if the edition is limited or open. Example: Digital photography printed on archival photo rag paper, limited edition 2/10

Print Size Specifications:
Large Format: If submitting multiple images, only one (1) may be large format up to 24" on the longest side
Standard Format: All other images must be 16" x 20" or smaller

Pricing Requirements:
All artwork must be priced at $1,000 or under

Framing Requirements:
Framing is done by the artist
The frame must be wired
No sawtooth hanging hardware, no French cleats, no corner hanging hardware

EXHIBITION DETAILS
Venue: The Co-Op at Yellow Studio and the Beehive at Yellow Studio (curated retail space)

Exhibition Format: This is a retail exhibition where selected artworks will be available for immediate purchase and pickup. Unlike traditional gallery shows, this is an ongoing sales exhibition integrated into our retail environment.

Display Rotation: Accepted works may rotate in and out of display as pieces sell and new work is hung. Not all accepted pieces will be visible at the same time.
Sales Process: Purchased artwork goes home with the buyer immediately upon sale - no waiting until the exhibition ends.

Commission Structure: Yellow Studio receives a 30% commission on all artwork sold while on display and for 30 days following the end of the exhibition period.
Reception: There will be no formal opening reception. This is a continuous retail exhibition experience.
